T1 services are Time Division Multiplex
(TDM) services designed to provide either 24 voice telephone lines or
high-speed dedicated lines between offices (or to provide high speed
Internet Access) or a combination of the two (Voice and Data). T1
service can be provisioned to your equipment, usually a Channel Service
Unit/ Data Service Unit (CSU/DSU) such as the Adtran TSU with
synchronous V.35 DTE interface and a DSX-1 PBX port. Many routers these
days can be equipped with T1 cards which provide a simple RJ-48X jack
(similar to Ethernet RJ-45 but with a different pin-out) and they
provide a built-in CSU/DSU which greatly simplifies the connection to
your T1 service. T3 services are usually supplied via two coaxial
connections terminated in BNC type connectors, or via Fiber Optic
connection, which can be connected to compatable cards in your router
or
other Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). T3 can provide 672 analog
lines
to your equipment or roughly 45Mbps data rate in both directions. T1
provides roughly 1.544Mbps data rate in each direction.
Some business customers may be interested in Integrated Services
Digital Network (ISDN) such as ISDN PRI (Primary Rate Interface),
especially in Call Center and similar high inbound call environments.
Most of our providers will provide the router and thusly eliminate this
complexity if that would be better for you. I provide this information
just to educate potential customers who many not be familiar with some
of the related terminology. If you have any questions I will either
know
the answer or will get the answer for you. I myself or one of our
T1...T3 + specialists will be glad to assist you with your Voice or
Data
dedicated connection questions. The ShopforT1 link above gives you
access to an amazing Real Time Quote system which can get you pricing
information fast... and arrange for someone to contact you by telephone
to help you through the process of getting information and placing your
order for service.
Voice over IP (VOIP) is a method of
providing Telephone Service,
both for Long-Distance Savings, and for your Local Telephone
Service. There are new opportunities for
customers to have more options in where to get their Local Phone
Dial-Tone Service as well as who carries their Long-Distance calls. The
voice quality is much better than you would expect and the advantage in
savings makes it time for consumers to take a look at their options.
The big carriers are handling voice call traffic over IP networks which
used to be
handled over their traditional TDM trunk systems. We have two providers
supplying Broadband Telephone services. These providers can get
you all set up and provide excellent support. And if you need further
help with integrating voice with your existing broadband Internet
connection we are able to help you.
You will need a Broadband Internet connection.
A Broadband Internet connection is a high-speed
connection, typically known as ‘Cable Internet’ or ‘DSL’. A Broadband
Internet connection is ‘ALWAYS ON’ and supplied either by your Cable
Company through a cable modem, or by way of your local phone company or
re-seller using a DSL modem. In either case you will be all set to take
full advantage of the features and savings that are offered!
(Note: This can also work with T1 and faster service and with broadband
Satellite service.)
Secondly you will require an analog adapter that
converts digital voice packets into analog signal so that you may
continue using the same phones that you have in your home today. This
is an ATA - Analog Telephone Adaptor type unit. Often these are
included with the service.
You use your Broadband Telephone phone service just as
you would any other standard phone! You can make calls and receive
calls, plus take advantage of the cost savings.
This does not hinder the functionality of your internet
connection. You will keep enjoying high speed internet access just as
you always have. You can surf the web, and talk on the phone, at the
same time.
* If you wish to use your home phone and the internet at
the same time you will require a broadband router. If you do not
already have a broadband router you may purchase one from the provider
or I can help you get one.. A broadband router offers many benefits to
your home network such as expandability, and security.
