ONE STATION ONLY! You won't see this on WSVN's Just One Station, only here on The Alan Spicer Channel on Alan Spicer Marine Telecom. The History Channel, on Satelite or Cable TV, has a Series called Life After People. And it shows the aftermath of what things would be like if people, humans, were gone and no longer roamed the planet. Anyway I've been seeing this plot of land in Oakland Park, Florida ... across from a Hospital that closed some years ago. So I'm trying to figure out what was this? What happened to this large square plot of land over the years? And why does it remain deserted?
I passed by this lot, this large plot of land, today as I have many times in my travels. I was really looking for Powerline Noise that affects Ham Radio, with a 2-Meter/440 hand held radio in my car. That looked like a good place to listen for radio noises from powerlines on that street. Normally there is a locked gate, but today there was not. There was no KEEP OUT or DANGER sign there, In fact even inside the only sign that I saw was a "No Dumping" sign. So I did enter, like I said, just to listen for powerline noises from power poles. But I decided to take pictures. I also looked up this location in Google Earth and remembered that Google Earth has a capability to show older aerial photography of a lot of places. So I used the Google Earth "Wayback Machine". I am including those pictures here! So what WAS THIS? In 1995, the black and white picture, makes it difficult to tell what it was, I took screen shots of the timeline that Google Earth provided. In 1995 there was SOMETHING THERE. Later shots look like a surgical military air strike took place and took the place out completely. Maybe it burned down? Maybe this is where they made that alien movie District 9? Could Vickers whats-his-name have been here? The prawns? Later aerial shots show some activity there. And it went on for quite awhile. But they didn't build anything???? (Put consiracy theory hat on...) Could they have been removing evidence of alien visitors from the site? Could they have been removing nuclear material???? Could they have been removing Medical Waste material? The hospital, right across the street from this plot of land was closed some years back. I think it's now a Ghost Hospital. Other businesses just south of there, in similar plots, have big signs up saying basically HEY WE *ARE* OPEN, even if the old hospital is closed. So now the remaining burning question remains ... Why has this plot of land remained vacant for SO MANY YEARS???? Does it have a "half life" (like that video game?) I mean is it contaminated with something? Why wouldn't someone snap this land up and build a strip mall, some kind of factory, or a residential community (apartments or condos perhaps?)???? It just sits there. And like I said, there is evidence of activity on the land. Cars and trucks maybe, as if it were construction. But nothing got constructed. So what's up with this? Does anyone know the story of what happenned, and why it remains vacant?
